I have been asked to analyse 3 logos and 3 album covers.
1) The Killers
I think that this logo reflects the band as the are from vegas and this logo to me looks like the vegas style writing made from lights that would be hung on a building for all to see.
I also notice that the the is small and not in capitals like the KILLERS part, this gives the message that it is not as important, and that the KILLERS is the superior part of their logo.
The picture to the right is one of the Killers album covers of which i think also reflects the band well as again it has that vegas desert feel with the rocky dusty floor, old caravan and an old goat. The old goat maybe represents them and there age. Then finally a woman with a miss band around her, this gives it a really a american feel.
2)Datsik The Logo above belongs to a dubstep producer called Datsik , his dubstep has a really deep and heavy feel and i think that this logo definetely reflects it as is has a very beefy style with sharp edges this reflects his filthy music style. Unlike the the Killers logo this is a much more complex thought out piece of art.
The picture to the side is one of Datsiks album covers, from taking a look at this cover it definetely reflects his music as it has an aggressive feel which is given off from the creepy eye and the lack in colour. I like the way the pupil of the eye is the record label logo.
The text is big and bold and stands out more because of the white outline around the text. Then moving on to the EP text it is more simple and plain(no outline or secondry colours), this makes the BOOM main title more important!

PROJECT PLAN
The song i have chosen to make a music video to is myself (Moses-mc laptop shit sandwich), this track comes under the fidget house genre. I have chosen this track because it is a bouncy track that im sure alot of people would like to listen to this style of music, i think it has alot of potential for a video.
My ideas for the video consist of animation i will be making on flash mixed up with some real life footage i will capture and edit on final cut.
Before the track starts i will have footage of people buying my record and then the record will be placed on a turntable and then the track will start alongside the animation.
My idea of animation will be trees growing and then dying then being eaten by worms and then the worms being eaten by birds, basically the circle of life, amongst these ideas there will be other animations such as swirls and stars as well as anything i learn on the way.
Amongst this i will then again incorporate video footage of a dancer dancing to the beat which will be filmed using a green screen so that i can have animation going around the dancer. When gathering the footage of the dancer i will try using different techniques of filming and doing different movements of the camera to get a more powerful impact on my audience.
As you can probably tell i am going for the more weird and wonderful psychedelic approach to really give the audience something to talk about, causing a viral advertisement of my work.
INSPIRATIONS
Some inspirations of mine have come from the yellow submarine animation where the animation itself reflects the trippy time they lived as acid and other psychedelics were extremely popular at this time.
This has helped my idea to the the extent that i am reflecting the party scene that my type of music would be listened to.
Another inspirations has come from the animation director rogier van der zwaag where he uses shapes to move to the beat, i really like his style but am not sure how i will incorporate these ideas as yet.
THE STRUCTURE OF MY TRACK

Experimenting
Mastering my track
Today i have exported my track from my laptop to Logic and have experimented mastering my track to get the best quality i can. To do this i have used a compressor, channel EQ and a limiter. Watch the video above to see how much the sound quality has improved!
The quality isnt as good once i uploaded it but you get the idea.
Experimenting and learning Flash animations
I have been learning how to use flash by watching video tutorials. Here are some snapshots from the slow process of animation in flash.
THE PROCESS OF MY ANIMATION
I then had to use the paint tool and colour tiny strips going up the tree to get the growing effect.
Every time i painted a strip i had to insert a new frame.
It took me a good hour or two but i finally got what i worked for .
Here is some of my artwork experments.
This will not be the final product as i did not produce the picture myself and is only an expermient!
I think this would go better with some of the darker music i make and might use it in the future, but for my fidget track i want something a bit more fun!
So i decided to use a picture of myself that i got a friend to take.
i then went through different fonts to see which one would fit my track and style best.
So taking aboard that my track has a bouncy feel rather than being rigid and hard hitting i wanted to reflect this in the font i used and finally came across this font which is not such a serious font .
I then thought of the colour that i wanted it to be, so i thought of my video to the song and realised it would work well if i used my colours and finally came up with this.
I then typed the name of the ep and used the same style as the moses and the same colours for the different words.
I did this because the track name is just as important as the main title.

Music Production!
Hello, just thought id update my blog to let you know that i have been sequencing drum patterns and basslines on Logic Pro! I used single hits to make a really simple drum loop, then experimenting with the ES2 synthesizer i created a simple Dubstep bassline, i then duplicate the bassline track and alternated it to get a much rythmic feel to the loop!
Here is a link to my youtube video with the loop i have created. Enjoy! (copy and paste link)

Create promotional materials- PLAN
We have now been set our next assignment of unit 1 capture. The overall plan is to create a music video for an artist of our choice, in my case i am choosing to do an animation video to my own music that i have produced.
Before i can start making the video i will need to gather key ideas through mind maps, sketches, and storyboards.
I will also need to write a project proposal explaining my ideas.
MY VIDEO PLAN SO FAR!
The piece of music i have chosen to do is an fidget house style production, produced by myself (Moses)
this style of music is very similar to electro house with a very bouncy feel.
For my video i will be do an animation as well as some footage i will record myself.
Like most songs it is structured with a
introduction(build up)
then the 1st drop(bouncy part)
middle break(2nd build up)
2nd drop(bouncy part)
outro.

Skills (Armando) detailed treatment
I have chosen the track, "My red hot car". This is a dnb track with a fast tempo.
I have looked at other squarepusher videos to see what ideas they may give me.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GVLMsJ22i4o
From watching this video made by chris cunningham i have taken some key points to help me with making my video.
-Weird theme to compliment the track
-Track has been edited to fit the track really well
-effects have also been used
So far my idea for the video i am making is to gather footage of a weird character from a series or daytime program(thinking of Frank gallagher) and then to cut up the footage and snap to fit the track, also to glitch the footage up to get an effective effect on the audience.
I have also realized that Squarepusher (the producer of my red hot car) has alot of album art e.t.c of digital and geometric shapes with really luminous colours.
http://beatdoesitbetter.blogspot.com/2009/01/squarepusher-numbers-lucent-2009.html
From the link below i have seen that he also loves l.e.d usage.
http://warp.net/records/squarepusher
This has given me an idea to layer my footage with any digital pictures or footage i choose to use in the video, this will work well in relating to Squarepusher.
I have now started work on the video to my red hot car . I have ended up scrapping my ideas to use footage of a tv series and decided to work with the sea world footage armando supplied me with.
I didnt just use this because i couldnt be bothered to gather footage but because i really enjoyed working with the sea worlrd footage.
I have been slicing the footage up to fit the beat to get the right visual effect on the audience.
I am enjoying making this video so much more than i expected as it fits really well were i have use the splash of the water to represent the snare or hi end of the song.
I have then used the nodding of the whales head to fit the bassline riffs, also using other movements of the whale to fit other melodic parts of the track.

MIC RESEARCH
Today we are researching Microphones (condensor or dynamic) and the polar patterns.
The M 201's is a dynamic microphone with a hypercardioid polar pattern, it is effective for recording and reinforcing snare drums hi hats, rack toms and percussion works well with banjos and acoustic guitars.
The Shure sm57 is a dynamic microphone with a cardioid polar pattern, this microphone is a popular choice for live performances and is used for electric guitars and the snare drum.
The Electrovoice RE20 is a dynamic microphone with a cardioid polar pattern.
free of bass-boosting it is great for acoustic/electris bass and kick drum.
The AKGd112 is a dynamic microphone with a cardioid pattern, an amazing mic for kick drum and bass guitar. It is known as a heavy duty mic.
